California Pt.3: Day 2 (Dropbox)

Wow, I haven’t had a chance to post the rest of my photos from Cali. It’s been a whirlwind over here.

Some of Patrick’s roommates were nice enough to give us a tour of Dropbox. They have a saying over there, “It just works”. It’s probably been one of the most profound things I’ve heard in a while. It’s not just a sign on the wallâ€”it’s in the air they breath.

I really like how they’ve invested so much into culture. They describe things as looking polished on the outside, but it’s total chaos internally.

Part of that is because they weigh their organization around product delivery, and making “it just work”. Reaching that kind of level requires doing anything necessary to get the job done right.

Their CTO also has penchant for product. He emphasizes QA and it’s a huge part of the design process there.

Anyway, more on this later. I have more photos that I’ll have to dig up from my iPhone. ^_^

Water Leak Update

Okay, so the water leak has been stopped. The plumber came by today and fixed the hose.

Apparently, it wasn’t tightened all the way, and part of the hose was rotted.

The only thing left is to replace the carpet and get this bed frame.

Water Leak in the Bathroom

When I came back from Thanksgiving, I had a nice present waiting for me. A had a water leak from my sink. Total bummer.

So I called up my insurance, and they’ve sent some people out to clean it up.

And they’re probably going to replace the carpet. As you can see, they cut out a sample to see if there’s any mold.

Now my room’s a total mess. I guess my mom was totally right about having lessâ€”the more crap you have, the more you’ll have to replace if it breaks.

D600 Err Message

So this is probably one of the biggest bummers recentlyâ€”I purchased a D600 from craigslist, but it seems like it has problems.

Really annoyed that I drove that far to pick it up. But I’m actually more annoyed that I settled for a used camera body. I should have bought it brand new.
