as you can see, even the signage for microsoft’s “campus” versus apple is clearly more complex and non-user friendly. the question is, as apple grows, will this signage be enough. there is a difference between “identifier” signs and “directional” signs. apple is using a identifier approach… but it will be difficult to scale in the future.
it’ll be interesting to see how everything pans out as apple grows and expands to conquer new territory. branding is about narrowing your focus and finding a sweet spot in a market niche. is apple going to loose their focus as they create new products like the iphone, itv, etc? or are they doing the right thing by trying to create exclusive digital lifestyle products to integrate seamlessly with their operating software and computers?
