New Roommates

My last roommate, Krishna, was probably the best roommate I’ve ever had. He had all the characteristics I look for in someone I can live with. Within the first few minutes of meeting him, I had a feeling that we would turn out to be good friends. I miss grabbing pho with him on thursdays, playing video game together and hanging out. Unfortunately, he had to move on for career reasons a few months ago, and since then I’ve been living by myself.

So for the last quarter, I’ve taken some time to enjoy my place solo. Over the holidays, it was nice to have the extra space for friends and family. But now that the new year has started, I’ve started looking for a new roommate.

I posted an ad on craigslist this past saturday, and got about a dozen of responses within a few hours. The two respondents that impressed me the most were actually the first two—they were both well written and presented themselves very professionally.

As you would imagine, the problem wasn’t finding potential tenants on craigslist, it’s filtering them out. (I’ll follow up with another post to show you examples of some emails that were strange.)

We should be finishing up paperwork soon, and I’m pretty excited to be sharing space with them. Stay tuned.
