Fast Friday: Alpha 12 GTR

04-ams-nissan-gt-r-alpha-12.jpg

I’m not a huge GTR fan, but this is pretty crazy. It’s called the Alpha 12 GT-R, and it’s totally bat shit insane. Here are a couple of performance figures that will make your head spin:

Horsepower: 1,700
Top speed: 237mph
0-60mph: 2.5s
60-130mph: 3.3s
Price: $200k

Now you could spend a lot less for a motorcycle, but it’s kind of crazy to think that a street car (that seats 4 people) can go that fast. The biggest down side is that there are probably only a couple of places in the world where you can take advantage of all that speed. It has 3x the power of a stock GT-R… why would anyone need that much power?

HRE Wheels on Porsche 911

Man, these look good. Never been a huge fan of flashy wheels, but I’m diggin’ the look of the these HRE wheels. Too bad they cost like $6k+ for a set (and that doesn’t include rubber).

Boy do they look sexy on this one.

Maybe I’m looking at these because I watched Fast and Furious 6 last night. Hah!

Probably the best way to stay out of trouble and getting the latest thing is to go classic. My buddy Mark sent me these recently. The color looks great. Man, I’d love to have one of these in the stable one day.

Cars and Coffee

It looked like it was going to rain this past weekend, but it turn out to be nice weather in the morning for Cars and Coffee.

I saw a bunch of really nice rides, but the coolest one was the Noble M400.

1053053_10151559231842955_742124130_o.jpg

I talked to the owner and he pretty much described the Noble as a “track car that’s drivable on the road”. The vehicle weighs around 2500lbs, which is really light. Just to give you an idea, a Porsche 911 typically weighs about 3000lbs or more. It’s got a significant amount of turbo boost that pushes out around 424hps. That’s quite a lot of power, and it can do 0-60 around 3.2 seconds.

The owner said that he picked his up for around $50k, and it had all the necessary updates/maintenance to keep it running strong. Anyway, it’s definitely a car I’d like to add to the stable in the future. The only thing I’d do differently is remove the front license plate. In fact, I think I’m going to remove mine from my car. Sadly, it makes this amazing super car look like a joke.

Next up, the typical Porshe owners hang out together. Pretty small turn out, but it was nice to see such a wide variety, from old to new.

The white Porsche on the left is a 911 GT3 (997 model). The red one on the right is a slant nose turbo, with a giant whale tail.

A bunch of muscle cars and hot rods made it out as well. My favorite was the Chevrolet Mako.

Old Corvette in a lovely blue.

This is my favorite angle. look at those lines!

Pretty class interior too.

A lovely GTO. One menacing looking muscle car.

Chrysler Prowler. Really sharp color.

Mercedes Benz SLS with the famous gull wings.

It’s not my favorite super car, but it does have a unique air about it. It’s definitely an “old man’s” car.

Cars and Coffee Pt.2

Here are some more photos from this weekend.

While I like the new look of the Mustangs, I prefer the older ones.

I mean, just look at those lines.

DSC_0020.jpg

I think the old Corvette Stingrays still look great. Looking forward to the new one coming out soon.

DSC_0022.jpg

These were probably the craziest muscle cars I’ve seen around here. They’ve been completely modded for the drag strip. The owners actually own titles and win big time cash off of racing. Look at the width of those tires—they were squealing just trying to turn a corner.

Here are some nice ones from Mercedes Benz.

And of course the Delorean had to make its showing, with the gull wings.

Finally, I saw some Lambos.

Cars and Coffee

Lovely day this weekend for Cars and Coffee. It was kind of crazy though. I got up at 5:30am to get some breakfast, wash my car and go to the meet up with Annie. We got there at 6:20 and the parking lot was starting to fill up. Fortunately, I got a nice parking spot. It was also cool seeing Patrick again. Hopefully he’ll come out to more. Next time he can take his S2000! ^_^

R8. One of my buddies is seriously considering getting one. I totally approve.

Ferrari. My favorite, by far is the 458 Italia. I know it’s a little trendy, but yeh… it’s bad ass.

Cars and Coffee Pt. 2

So I went out to another Cars and Coffee this morning. Since the weather was nice, I figured it’d be a great idea to get out there. The best part was that I was driving behind a brand new Porsche 991S, and we were flying pretty fast towards the same destination. Once we both arrived, we had a great time talking about cars.

Here’s a photo of his 991. Great comparison between old and new.

Saleen Mustang.

Pair of Lotus Elises. Krishna, I know you like this!

Shelby Cobra. What a great color combo.

DSC_0016.jpg

Ford Model T replica.

DSC_0018.jpg

Dodge Viper.

DSC_0024.jpg

Nissan 370Z Nismo edition. For whatever reason, I love Japanese cars in white.

DSC_0025.jpg

Classic 911. This probably was the most rare and expensive car on the lot. It was remade with all original parts.

Interior.

DSC_0028.jpg

BMW 2002tii. This thing looked great in person.

DSC_0034.jpg

M3. Not as rare, but boy are they great value and performance for the money.

DSC_0035.jpg

Tricked out Lexus. Not particularly my favorite, but it drew a lot of attention from the crowd. To me, it looks pretty distasteful, but I guess there’s always something for everyone to love and hate.

DSC_0036.jpg

Lambo. This thing looked bad ass.

DSC_0040.jpg

My buddy Dullah and his wife came out with their newly purchased M5. He took me for a ride in it the last week, and boy this thing could pull. It’s what you call a sleeper. Really glad they came out today. Dullah knows his stuff, so it’s great soaking in his knowledge of cars.
