This chair was inspired by organic shapes and human anatomy. The original design started off as hundreds of conceptual hand sketches, followed by multiple prototypes made from different materials. The final prototype was created as a 1/10th scale model made from different materials including high density foam finished with bondo and laquer, as well as sand blasted vacuformed acrylic.
To celebrate an AMF anniversary, I recreated a 3d model of one of their original vintage characters, Pin Boy. The model was created and rendered in Rhino 3d, and then used for print materials and large posters. Since the model could be rendered and take any pose, it was used for several purposes.
This is a conceptual drum, modelled off of the shape of a Djembé combined with basic priciples of a subwoofer. As the drummer plays, the air is compressed at the bottom and then forced upwards. The beauty of the drum's function is displayed through transparent plastics.
This is a kiosk for Home Depot, in collaboration with Xerox and 3 other designers. The kiosk was made exclusively from materials that coudl be bought from home depot, and the kiosk was designed to help customers build, create, and learn more about home improvement. The design was to mimic the shape of a tree, giving customers a little privacy, but the room to collaborate if they wanted to peak at projects other people are working on.
As man's best friend, all parks should have water available for their companions. A project that originally started as a water fountain for parks could be adapted for home use as well. The prototype was designed to test if it was user friendly for dogs.
Made entirely from flat sheets of plastic and rubber, this lamp wedgeds itself into the wall and stays there by using tension and friction. The lamp creates a warm ambient accent light and can be placed anywhere without taking up a footprint on valuable floor space. This prototype was created to demonstrate how easy it was to use, as well as how simple the mechanism worked.
The original New York stock exchange was originally founded under a sycamore tree, where groups of traders met. To honor the tradition and celebrate new clients signing on to Wachovia Securities Financial Network, I designed and created a plaque with real sycamore leaves encased and preseved within plastic. The plaque featured the broker's name, along with a laser etched story and thank you note.
