Designing at AddThis

DSC 0011

Now that we’ve finished releasing AddThis Pro, it’s time to get back to the rhythm of things. Some key take aways of designing here:

1. Share your ideas. Talk about them. Don’t design in a bubble. Talk to your team about setting the bar high.
2. Play to people’s strengths and compliment them. If they’re better working in google docs, let them punch out the bullet points they need. If they’re more visual, let them express everything with pictures.
3. Success breeds success. Carry the momentum of “winning” into each new feature.

Kudos to our design team for making it such a pleasure to work with. This has been one of our best designs yet.

L Shape vs Traditional Couch Layout

My couch broke a while ago, and I need to replace it. I’ll probably have to sell it off in the next few weeks. In the mean time, I need to find a replacement.

What do you guys think of a L shape couch versus a traditional layout (sofa and love seat). Here are two that I was looking at yesterday with Annie.

Let me know if you have any advice. Most folks say that the sectional couch looks better, but the traditional layout is more flexible and has more arm rests. Thoughts?

Introducing AddThis Pro

I’ve been working on a new product with the team for the last quarter… and it’s finally live. I’ll write more about it soon, but here’s a quick video about it. By the way, here’s the rough draft of the video if you were curious.

Huge kudos to the whole team on a job well done.
