Brenizer Method Photo

DSC_9147-Edit

I tried out a brenizer method photo recently. This picture was created from about a dozen photos from a 85mm 1.8 lens. The photos were assembled in photoshop as a panorama. The technique is fairly simple. This was one of my first attempts, and I think it came out pretty well. It kind of looks like a 50mm with a really shallow depth of field (something you might expect from a f.95 lens).

Anyway, I’ll be experimenting around with some more photos like these soon. Stay tuned.

Hanging out with Tiffanie at Fort Funston

DSC_8717

It’s been a while since I hung out with one of my old friends, Tiffanie. We went out to Fort Funston to catch a little afternoon breeze on the beach.

DSC_8715

The weather is kind of unpredictable out there—it was foggy when we first arrived, but cleared up later in the afternoon.

DSC_8707

Parts of the beach had a really dark fine sand. For some reason, Tiffanie enjoyed playing with it.

DSC_8706

I have to say, I’m really enjoying shooting with a 35mm. This photo was shot at f1.8.

DSC_8712

Okay, so she had to use my camera to try shooting as well.

Here’s some breakfast at the a local favorite, Sweet Maple.

DSC_8699

Gotta go with the eggs benedict.

DSC_8723

And later for lunch, a little viet broth + assorted meats and noodles.

DSC_8724

…and Lee’s coffee. This stuff is so addicting. But I have to stop drinking it on sunday afternoons.

DSC_8727

Anyway, thanks Tiffanie for stopping by San Francisco to say hello. Good times.

Apartment Hunting

DSC_8730

I can’t believe a year has almost gone by since I’ve been out in CA. At this point, I have to start thinking about next steps. I can continue to live in my current apartment, but it’s pretty expensive. I may need to consider getting a roommate to reduce my rent.

DSC_8741

Anyway, I also looked at an apartment complex out in Pacifica. I’m really digging the scenery.

DSC_8745

There’s just something so gorgeous about this place. I talked to one of the tenants, and they said that they go surfing every morning before they work. There’s something to be said about this lifestyle.

DSC_8736

The combination of the black sand beach, ocean and flowers makes this place feel like a slice of heaven.

DSC_8751

The question is, will I be able to live with the commute. While it’s cheaper to live here, I’d have to do about a 40 minute commute each direction every day. I’m not sure if that’s worth the time. It may be better for me to live somewhere else and just take and uber out here on the weekends.

DSC_8747

But man, this place is just incredible. Look at those flowers.

DSC_8746

Anyways, what do you think? Worth the commute? I know annie said she likes it. Hah!

Hiking at Diamond Heights and Mt. Davidson Park

DSC_6423-Edit

I spent the afternoon hiking around some new parks in San Francisco. I figured it was a nice day to get some fresh air. At the end of the day I was able to snag this photo

DSC_6295-Edit

So, the afternoon started with me taking the metro and a bus to Diamond Heights.

DSC_6303

I honestly didn’t know where I was going, so I just kept hiking. I took a little back yard trail for about a quarter mile.

DSC_6306

The trail took me past a couple different neighborhoods. If you look closely, I think these are made of giant shipping containers.

DSC_6316

When I finally arrived at the park, the landscape started opening up, revealing a miniature canyon (on the right).

DSC_6317

It’s a nice trail, and makes for interesting photography because of the way the canyon casts a shadow.

DSC_6323

Some of the rock formations were pretty cool… It’s almost like something you’d see in Skyrim.

DSC_6328

As I walked through the park, I was chasing the light, heading west.

DSC_6334

I finished Diamond Heights pretty quickly, and figured I could catch some more pictures on Mt. Davidson Park. Little did I know, it was one hell of an incline to get there. Some of those hills were pretty brutal.

DSC_6333

As I got near the top, I saw an MG in excellent condition. Whoever owned this really took care of it.

DSC_6444

And when I got to the top of Mt. Davidson, I waited for an opportunity to snap a pic of San Francisco at night.

DSC_6406-Edit

Here’s a panoramic of 10 stitched photos looking east-ish.

DSC_6446

And that concludes my hike. I took the bus and metro home. It’s pretty easy to get to, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to check out the skyline at night, as an alternative to Twin Peaks—it’s less crowded at Mt. Davidson.

I’ll be back in the future to capture the sunrise. Stay tuned!

Expa Holiday Party

It’s been a busy week with holiday parties, Vinny visiting, and getting ready for the app store.

A high tech fortune teller with an iPad.

DSC_6238

As you can see, it was a full house. A big turn out from all the Expa SF portfolio companies made an appearance.

Kyle catching up with Phil.

DSC_6265

I must say, it was hard to get around… it was so packed, and the layout of the restaurant prohibited flow.

DSC_6269-Edit

And of course the Wenners. A quick snap of Rudy and Laney just as we were about to make our exit for the evening.
