This is probably one of the few shows that I watch. I don’t really care for the drama, but I definitely enjoy watching the contestants compete to create restaurant quality dishes. Master Chef is nearing the end of their season, so it’s down to the last folks.
Well Seasoned Chicken with Poached Egg
I did the chicken, and Annie did a perfectly poached egg. It turned out pretty tasty!
Boneless Chicken Thigh, Broccoli and Rice
Last night I went by Walmart to pick up some food. I cooked boneless chicken thigh with broccoli and korean rice. The chicken was marinated in soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper for about an hour. They were then pan fried for 10-15 minutes.
The broccoli was boiled for 2 minutes and then pan fried over olive oil, oyster sauce, and kosher salt. I added a little water to help create a light sauce with it.
It turned out pretty well. It’s a simple go to recipe that takes less 20 minutes to cook (after you marinate the chicken).
Broccoli Puree
So this is definitely next on the menu for me to try cooking. Need to get a small food processor first though.

Lessons from Working at a Restaurant
1. If you don’t have a thick skin and complete abandonment of political correctness, don’t go near the kitchen. You will immediately learn there that what you consider to be off-limits is just the baseline of someone else’s sense of humor.
I’ve been watching a lot of Master Chef recently. Learning a ton about food and cooking through the show and Gordon Ramsey. There are definitely things you can learn from the kitchen. Here are 23 life lessons you get from working at a restaurant.
On a side note, here are some more things I’ve learned from Anthony Bourdain.
Chinese Crispy Pork Belly + Korean Rice
I cooked a nice dish for our office this morning. It came out great—sounds like everyone enjoyed it! Thanks Annie for walking through the process!
