I tried out a brenizer method photo recently. This picture was created from about a dozen photos from a 85mm 1.8 lens. The photos were assembled in photoshop as a panorama. The technique is fairly simple. This was one of my first attempts, and I think it came out pretty well. It kind of looks like a 50mm with a really shallow depth of field (something you might expect from a f.95 lens).
Anyway, I’ll be experimenting around with some more photos like these soon. Stay tuned.
These are some pictures of my mom’s hands. She used these hands to take care of me our family. Even to this day, she still works hard, cooks and uses these hands.
You can really tell a lot about a person by their hands. There are stories, memories and a profound sense of character in all the wrinkles.
I just want to take a moment to tell everyone how much I love my mom. She loves what she does and is the most generous person I know—and you can see it in her hands. Ps. She also bakes a wicked apple pie.
Seriously, check out that crust.
And no apple pie would be complete with some delicious ice cream. I have to say, she has perfected her recipe and execution.
On my trip back to the east coast, I spent some time with my dad at the river house. I snapped a couple pics of him doing dad things.
I’m not sure what it is about this photo, but I’m really digging the depth.
It’s kind of funny that I’m using an old school DSLR, while he’s using his camera phone.
I’m not sure what kind of plants these are, but they sure make for a beautiful canvas. I might have to rent an old petzval lens or a nikon 58mm 1.4g. I’ve heard that it creates some dreamy images with tons of character.
Here’s a picture of my dad showing me his garden. He actually made me some soup with some vegetables he grew—and I have to say, they were pretty darn delicious.
It’s a nice broth with pork and noodle. Simple and tasty.

This one was a big one—the big three zero. It was a full week, mixed with highs and lows.
Unfortunately, I had to miss her birthday on Friday. I’ve tried to make a commitment to my team to only fly back to the east coast on the weekends.
The good news is that we got to spend the week together and celebrate a couple times to make up for it.
For starters, we went to iron age with her family and some of her friends.
I love korean BBQ, but man, it leaves your cloths stained in the smell.
I’m not sure exactly why Annie’s dad wanted me to take a photo of him with the ice cream cone, but here it is.
Looks like everyone had a great time. This is a picture of Julia laughing her brains out because she was showing off her food baby.

During the week, Annie’s family got her a delicious cake.

Unfortunately, Annie got food poisoning on our way to the river house. We had to pull over a couple times because she got sick. Really sick.
The good news is that she started feeling better after a day or two and could eat some stuff. Man, what a terrible way to kick off your 30’s hah!
Anyway, happy birthday Annie! I hope you had a good one. And stop eating food from your office! Kinda f’d up that the FDA gives people food poisoning with their lunches. X_x
It’s been a while since I hung out with one of my old friends, Tiffanie. We went out to Fort Funston to catch a little afternoon breeze on the beach.
The weather is kind of unpredictable out there—it was foggy when we first arrived, but cleared up later in the afternoon.
Parts of the beach had a really dark fine sand. For some reason, Tiffanie enjoyed playing with it.
I have to say, I’m really enjoying shooting with a 35mm. This photo was shot at f1.8.
Okay, so she had to use my camera to try shooting as well.
Here’s some breakfast at the a local favorite, Sweet Maple.
Gotta go with the eggs benedict.
And later for lunch, a little viet broth + assorted meats and noodles.
…and Lee’s coffee. This stuff is so addicting. But I have to stop drinking it on sunday afternoons.

I can’t believe a year has almost gone by since I’ve been out in CA. At this point, I have to start thinking about next steps. I can continue to live in my current apartment, but it’s pretty expensive. I may need to consider getting a roommate to reduce my rent.
Anyway, I also looked at an apartment complex out in Pacifica. I’m really digging the scenery.
There’s just something so gorgeous about this place. I talked to one of the tenants, and they said that they go surfing every morning before they work. There’s something to be said about this lifestyle.
The combination of the black sand beach, ocean and flowers makes this place feel like a slice of heaven.
The question is, will I be able to live with the commute. While it’s cheaper to live here, I’d have to do about a 40 minute commute each direction every day. I’m not sure if that’s worth the time. It may be better for me to live somewhere else and just take and uber out here on the weekends.
But man, this place is just incredible. Look at those flowers.
Anyways, what do you think? Worth the commute? I know annie said she likes it. Hah!
